Ana joined the 2009 Andes Expedition, Cape Farewell's first expedition outside the Arctic, an 18 day trek through shrinking glaciers, cloud forests, lower forests, areas of deforestation and the Amazon.
Ana Cecilia Gonzales Vigil is a photographer and picture editor who has worked for various international NGOs, newspapers, magazines and news agencies.
She studied Documentary Photography at Gwent College in Newport, Wales. Since then she has worked as picture editor and helped setting up the digital photo departments of two new newspapers in Lima, Peru. She has produced and edited various books, encyclopedias and CDs, and has also been a teacher and given workshops in photojournalism in Peru, Chile, Colombia and Nigeria.
Ana Cecilia Gonzales Vigil won a World Press Photo award in 1993 and has been a Jury Member of the contest three times since. She is currently the Peruvian photo correspondent for The New York Times.
