Emily Venables
Oceanographer
Emily is an oceanography Ph.D student from the Scottish Association for Marine Science (SAMS) in Oban, Scotland working on the impact of mixing between warm cold ocean currents. She studied for 4 years at the National Oceanography Centre, Southampton with Simon Boxall as a supervisor before moving to Scotland 2 years ago. Her work with SAMS began in 2005 when she joined them for an Arctic research cruise and used the data she collected to work for a year on the physical oceanography of the West Spitsbergen Shelf. She has since been to sea twice monitoring the change in currents affecting the Arctic and observing important physical processes in the ocean for her Ph.D.

Reality of Change
